SeaFrance records best ever December

SeaFrance Dover - Calais Ferries is celebrating the New Year following the best ever December in the company’s history for car volume. During December 2007, over 55,000 cars travelled with SeaFrance, beating the previous highest ever December total of 53,000 cars in 1996.

As savvy Brits travelled to France to stock up on Christmas food and drinks, two of the busiest periods were Friday afternoon on 21 December and all day on Saturday 22 December, when SeaFrance Dover - Calais Ferries were full on all crossings for vehicles, passengers and freight.

SeaFrance’s car volume during the whole of December was up 16% year on year, whilst passenger traffic was up eight per cent. These figures rounded off a great year for the company, whose 2007 totals showed a 13% increase for car volumes and six per cent increase for passenger volumes, compared to 2006.

Robin Wilkins, Managing Director of SeaFrance UK, praised the dedication of the SeaFrance team as vital to the company’s 2007 success. Wilkins commented: "Our customers are amongst the UK’s most savvy and these figures show they are well aware of the bargains available over in France for Christmas! It has been a great year for SeaFrance and our staff have worked hard to drive these results".

SeaFrance operates 30 daily crossings on the Dover to Calais route, with fares for a car and up to five passengers starting from just £26 each way online for any duration and from £29 return for a day trip. For more details or to book call 0871 22 22 500 or visit seafrance.com
